In my design approach, I begin by deciding on a general theme for each issue. For the past couple issues, our themes have been fairytale, space, and art. I then have a brainstorm with all the writers and create a plan for stories in each category on each page. From there, I work with each writer to create a design they like for their page and either help them create it using InDesign or create it myself, using tools like Canva and Adobe Illustrator. I also make deadlines for things like rough drafts, graphics, photos, and interviews. Leading up to the sendoff date, we have biweekly work sessions after school to work on the design aspects of it until we send it to the publishers.
